Kevin is freelance artist, author, founder, project manager, publisher, sculptor, and speaker. He’s currently writing a book, well, this book actually "Guagua Pública: the New Cross Media Producer," while also launching the open cross media producer community Mis Tribus. Previously he founded DóndeEs.com, was editor in chief of TUX magazine, & speaker and blogger for the O’Reilly Network. When he’s not sculpting, drawing, or writing he enjoys spending time with his family.
Background
This is now my third straight startup here in Puerto Rico. My ongoing and still realtively strong local search platform Dónde Es.com still has strong numbers for a local site and the blog I write there Dondequeira, maintains a strong following. As one of the most authoritative voices on the Internet in Puerto Rico, MC Don Dees is one of the most popular bloggers.
During this time Kevin participated on the IT Conversation network as both a website editor and series producer, with over 75 shows credited to his efforts. IT Conversation is one of the leading podcasts on IT and Social Innovation.
Before that I received a $750K grant to start a software development laboratory to produce developers with strong skill in open source software. The SNAP Project, produced one of the most complete independent Java software development kits. After publishing an IEEE scientific paper based ont he project, I also presented the results of the project at Software Development in 2005. One of the projects most significant achievement was reaching 3rd in the list of the most active projects.
Pryor to that I was software development director with over 15 coporate IT experience and both a Masters and Bachelors in Computer Science.
